Flowers in the Attic: The Origin tells Olivia Winfield’s story. She’s notorious for her decision to lock her grandchildren in the attic. However, before she made that decision, she was a young woman wooed by Malcolm Foxworth.

Prior to their meeting, she’d been headstrong, determined, and fanciful. Olivia had been working with her beloved father, Mr. Winfield, until Malcolm swept her off her feet. Their fairytale romance was a whirlwind of excitement that shattered once she began to call Foxworth Hall her home. The romantic dreams Olivia had held close to her heart about what her and Malcolm’s life would be like died the more she began to get to know him.

Yes, he was handsome and charming and desirable, but under his agreeable persona lied a dark heart. There was more to Malcolm than Olivia had seen at first, as taken as she was by him, but between him and Foxworth Hall there was an evil that took root. If left to thrive, it would’ve corrode Olivia’s happiness as well as her children’s, hence the drastic actions she took which transformed her into a terrible version of herself in the name of keeping everyone safe.
