The prequel series to Flowers in the Attic, a 2014 Lifetime movie, premieres its first episode tonight, taking audiences on a deep dive into Olivia Winfield’s story before the events in the movie. Who was Olivia in her younger years? What changed her? How did you meet Malcolm Foxworth?
Flowers in the Attic: The Origin will explore this and more. Excited about tuning in, but want more details, such as the rating? We’ve got your back!

Flowers in the Attic: The Origin is a series broken down into four parts, one will drop each week on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET only on Lifetime. Tonight (July 9) is the premiere, “Part 1: The Marriage.” In this episode, we will meet Olivia Winfield as a young woman who gives everything up to become Mrs. Foxworth. Olivia believes she has found her fairytale happy ending, but it slowly turns into a nightmare and there may be no going back.

We know Olivia’s story won’t be pleasant, but what exactly is it rated TV-14 for? Here’s what we know.

Why is Flowers in the Attic: The Origin rated TV-14?

This goes without saying, but the four-part series is not for children. The Origin is rated TV-14, but after watching it, I have to say that I think the rating should be more strict. The TV-14 rating is for violence, sexual content, language, and suggestive dialogue. The biggest trigger here is the sexual content. If you are sensitive to this, you may not want to watch. Young teens may also not enjoy some scenes.
