Is Resident Evil (2022) a movie or a series on Netflix?

The latest addition to the Resident Evil franchise has made its land on Netflix. Starting with its first game in 1996, this franchise has been in the popular culture lexicon for nearly 30 years. It includes books and comics as well as live-action and animation adaptations. The most notable of which are the films starring Milla Jovovich as Alice.

Netflix’s adaptation, however, doesn’t follow Alice’s story. Instead, viewers are introduced to a new lead, Ella Balinska as Jade Wesker. Told in two different time periods, Resident Evil (2022) is a creeping action horror thriller that examines how the T-Virus outbreak came to be in 2022 and where it pushed humanity by 2036.

Essentially, the globe has become a hell-hole with zombies wandering the land and society splitting off into factions who are all vying for survival by any means necessary.

Jade knows that the situation goes deeper than an outbreak. The way the world has become what it is in her universe wasn’t an accident or an happenstance. She’s determined to hold those responsible for the horror everyone’s been living accountable. And, Jade will do whatever it takes to ensure this. If the world is set to kill you, what’s a little more danger in search of the truth?

Is Resident Evil (2022) on Netflix a movie?

Buckle up! If you plan in tuning into Jade Wesker’s adventure, you’ll be in for a season long ride. Resident Evil (2022) isn’t a movie. Coming in at eight episodes, you could binge watch the series in a day or savor it over the course of a weekend. Considering how expansive this tale is, it’s a good thing it’s a series and not a movie.
