The Walking Dead has sadly come to an end of an era. But as the saying goes “All good things must come to an end.” It starts this week in just four days when the show will makes it’s final appearance at the San Diego Comic-Con on Friday. Showrunner Angela Kang revealed to EW the conclusion of the lone two OGs from season one. Carol (Melissa McBride) and Daryl (Norman Reedus) will lead the way for the heroes in the final journey of The Walking Dead when it returns in the fall.

The Walking Dead showrunner on what’s to come for the survivors

We start off where Daryl is playing the step in father role to RJ and Judith. At this point that is the most important thing to him. Kang says we will see Daryl step up in some his decision making in some key ways. His leadership is definitely different from any other leader on the show. He’s more quiet about it, but so far he has gotten the job done. Michonne and Rick would be impressed to see how far he’s come with the kids. Part 3 of season 11 will very much surround the depths their people will go to protect the children of the apocalypse. After all they are future.

As for the Queen of The Walking Dead she now seems to have come to terms with the traumatic ways she’s had to make decisions. According to Kang Carol has come to accept the things that used to torment her in the past. We have seen Carol tally her death toll and watched the toll it took on her. Now we will get to see her come to terms with the tribulations of the past. It would have been fabulous to see all that play out on screen, but we always look forward to seeing what the Queen does next.

“We’ll get to see some really cool moments from Carol as she’s just outwitting and outlasting those that are seeking to do harm to her folks. She gets to have some memorable moments with both villains and our heroes. She’s like a chess master who’s playing 4D chess while other people are just kind of cranking along moment to moment.”  Angela Kang remarks on how we can expect Carol’s arc to come to a close on the main show.

Carol has always been the secret weapon for the group and as things change it looks to stay the same. She’s a warrior in many more ways than one and one of the toughest women the apocalypse has ever known. Nobody has had the amount of development as this LoneWolf and it’s been a pleasure to watch her transform into the woman she is today. Things should get very interesting come Part 3 of

and to see what the Queen has in store for the ostentatious Lance Hornsby.

The Walking Dead must go on

Though the successful decade long drama is coming to an end there is still much to look forward to in The Walking Dead universe. A brand-new and long awaited series Tales of The Walking Dead appears late this summer. The adventures of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) will be moving onto their own spin-off titled “Isle of the Dead.” The stars of the newly anticipated show will not be attending the SDCC this year due to its filming. They are however very much involved in the San Diego Comic-Con celebration as you can see them in all of The Walking Dead promotion throughout.

For Daryl Dixon he embarks on a brand new journey that leads him to Europe. How he arrives there is yet to be seen, but star Norman Reedus seems excited about the endeavor. What was once a Carol and Daryl spinoff has now turned into the lone spinoff and the Dixon Show. Though there are many questions surrounding it the show goes on nonetheless. Filming for this series is set to begin in September for the unnamed show for AMC. Hopefully we will get more insight on this very soon.

For the present The Walking Dead returns to the SDCC for the first time live in three years. Where we will see the stars and see the trailer of the last ride for Carol and Daryl in the main show of the series. Chris Hardwick will be hosting the panel in Hall H this Friday, July 22nd at 1:30 p.m PT. Don’t forget to tune in this fall to AMC and AMC Plus for the return of The Walking Dead one last time.
