We have a brand new animated movie coming to Apple TV+ this weekend in Luck. Is the film worth checking out? Or are we recommending you skip it? Let’s dive in.

Luck is the story of Sam Greenfield, the unluckiest person in the world. One day she finds herself in the never before located Land of Luck. The animated film has a loaded slate of stars, including Whoopi Goldberg, Jane Fonda, Simon Pegg, and Eva Noblezada as Sam.

Life isn’t going exactly as Sam expected it and everything she does seems to turn into something terrible. Because of this, Sam doesn’t have the most positive outlook on life. But then, one day, she stumbles across a cat named Bob who gives her a lucky penny and things starts to shift for her.

Now Sam has a new lease on life until flushing the penny down the toilet. When she confronts the cat, he speaks and freaks her out, but now she wants more of that good luck to give to her friend. So, finally, after chasing the cat down, Sam makes a deal with the cat to get a new penny.

Luck is one of the best animated films of 2022

First, I want to talk about the film’s animation because it is a GORGEOUS film to look at. I’m sad I couldn’t see this one on the big screen because it would’ve played terrific. And, honestly, compared to other animated films we’ve seen this year, Luck is above and beyond more appealing to the eyes. In addition, the color palette matched the story’s tone, making it coincide to create a cohesive unit.

Next, Eva Noblezada is a ray of sunshine in the role of Sam Greenfield. Her ability to capture the emotions needed within this role makes you care about her character and what she is going through. This actress has a bright future ahead of her and I look forward to seeing what’s next. Her chemistry with Simon Pegg, who played the cat, stood out in the film. I loved these two together as they made us laugh and sprinkled in a bit of heart along the way.

As we reached the home stretch, the pieces come together beautifully. The writers did a great job setting up this story with laughter but never steered away from the heart of the message. I loved every moment of this film and think that kids (even parents) will get an excellent little lesson on life while watching.

Overall, while our lead, Sam Greenfield, might not have had a whole lot of Luck, Apple TV+ struck gold with their latest venture in the world of animation. I genuinely believe this is one of the best-animated films of the year. It is filled with laughter, heart, and an overall good message.
