Will Skeet Ulrich return as F.P. Jones in Riverdale season 7?

Updated: June 29, 2023 – TVLine reports Riverdale actress Madchen Amick revealed that Skeet Ulrich won’t be reprising his role as FP Jones in the final season. The CW has yet to confirm the news.

The Riverdale season 6 finale ended in a way I think no fans expected! The town has been sent back to the 1950s, and the only person who remembers the actual Riverdale is Jughead. Going into season 7, the story certainly will be different. I wonder what the writers have in store!

The seventh and final season of the series doesn’t have a release date yet, but the show has been moved from its usual fall premiere schedule to midseason 2023. An episode count also hasn’t been confirmed, but the series most likely won’t see a shortened season. That means we are probably getting the traditional 22 episodes like previous seasons.

There’s been cast members who left the show in earlier seasons including Mark Consuelos, Marisol Nichols, and Ashleigh Murray. One popular actor who was hard to say goodbye to was Skeet Ulrich, aka the beloved F.P. Jones.

Will Skeet Ulrich return as F.P. Jones in Riverdale season 7?

Though she stepped down as a main character, Nichols has come back as Hermione Lodge in some episodes. Of course it’s not the same, but at least we get to see some of those characters who left back again. Even if it’s in a small capacity.

Ulrich chose to leave The CW series after season 5. Now since we’re headed into the final season, some fans are wondering if the actor might return to reprise his role. Or at least make one last appearance. Could we see the former Southside Serpent leader again?

In an interview with Decider, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa was asked about Ulrich’s possible return. Here’s what he had to say:

"Listen, I would love, love, love, love, love to have Skeet [Ulrich] back. I would, and I know everyone would, so my hope is that we can make that happen this season."

That wasn’t really a definitive answer. Aguirre-Sacasa seems to be open to the idea, but ultimately it’s going to be up to the actor on whether he is even interested in returning. Sometimes once actors leave a project, they move on and put it behind them. Hopefully though, even if it’s in a small scene, Ulrich and the Riverdale team will be able to make his return happen!

No cast members have been confirmed for Riverdale season 7 yet, but those most likely to return are K.J. Apa as Archie Andrews, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, Erinn Westbrook as Tabitha Tate, Vanessa Morgan as Toni Topaz, among other familiar faces.
