We have a massive action movie, an A24 movie and the return of the Ninja Turtles. Below, we share the best new movies to watch in theaters and films available on streaming services that you won’t want to miss.

While the month might be known as the dump-off month, it is kicking off with a TON of content across every streaming platform. Because of that, you might not be able to catch everything coming out, but with the rest of the month looking light, you can be selective this weekend in something that piques your interest.

Weekend movies to watch (and stream) today

  • Bullet Train, Theaters
  • Bodies Bodies Bodies, Theaters
  • Easter Sunday, Theater
  • Luck, Apple TV+
  • Thirteen Lives, Prime Video
  • Prey, Hulu
  • Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle: The Movie, Netflix
  • They/Them, Peacock

The weekend’s big release is Bullet Train, with many stars attached to the project. But, I will say this, I’m excited about the film because David Leitch is directing the project. He had a hand in directing John Wick, Dead Pool 2, and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. Leitch has a knack for creating great action films and sequences, which has me excited for what’s in store with Bullet Train.

The streaming platforms are all vying for your attention this weekend with a loaded film slate. First up, the animated film Luck is dropping on Apple TV+. Next, Thirteen Lives on Prime Video, Prey on Hulu, They/Them on Peacock, and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle: The Movie on Netflix. Do you know what’s great about that list? There is literally something for everyone with two kids (TMNT is for adults too) and three of them for the adults.

Out of all of the movies for adults on this list, I’ve heard nothing but great things about Thirteen Lives. The film is still in select theaters, but dropping it on Prime Video gives us all the chance to catch it in the comfort of our homes.

6 movies to watch (and 4 to skip) in August 2022. dark. Next
