The series is based on the ’90s film favorite of the same name. The period sports comedy-drama is created, executive-produced, and starring Abbi Jacobson and TV writer and producer Will Graham.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, after being announced back in 2020, the show has been a highly anticipated release. The show “follows brand-new characters and begins with the formation of the league in 1943 and follows the league and its players as they fight to keep it alive through close games, injuries, sexual awakenings and road trips across a rapidly changing U.S.”
With that in mind, A League of Their Own features a large ensemble cast which includes a plethora of comedic talent as well as a few emerging stars from other mediums.

Abbi Jacobson as Carson Shaw
Shaw is a small-town catcher who finds herself traveling to Chicago to chase a dream she didn’t even know she had: Trying out for the Rockford Peaches.
Jacobson is recognized as the co-creator and star of the Comedy Central series Broad City. She was recently heard in the animated feature The Mitchells vs. The Machines and plays the lead character Bean in the Netflix adult-animated series Disenchantment.
A League of Their Own will mark Jacobson’s second foray into creating a television series.
Chante Adams as Max Chapman
Max is described as “pitcher with an arm that could make men weep. She is ready for the big leagues and now she just needs to make her own path there.”
Adams took to the Broadway stage in 2022 to assume the role of Shanita in “Skeleton Crew.” She was last seen in the film A Journal for Jordan. This is also Adams’ first entry into a series regular role.
D’Arcy Carden as Greta Gill
Greta is a “first basewoman with unbelievable stretch. Off the field, she’s also effortless – traveling the globe seeking new adventures and liaisons.”
Carden is most recognized for her role as on the NBC series The Good Place as Janet and in the HBO series Barry as Natalie Greer. She also appeared alongside her co-star Jacobson when she guest starred on Broad City.
Gbemisola Ikumelo as Clance Morgan
Clance is Max’s devoted best friend who is characterized by her quick wit and sense of humor to get the two out of sticky situations.
The British actress and writer, has appeared in the BBC sketch comedy show Famalan and the Netflix series Sex Education. In addition to acting, Ikumelo is also pulling double duty as a staff writer on the series. She will appear in the upcoming remake of the 1989 action film Road House alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Billy Magnussen.
Roberta Colindrez as Lupe García
Lupe is a Texan pitcher who has a killer poker face, on and off the field, and doesn’t reveal her secrets too easily.
Colindrez comes from the stage, having taken on the role of Joan in the Original Broadway production of Fun Home. She also appeared in the Prime Video series I Love Dick and the Starz series Vida.
Kelly McCormack as Jess McCready
Jess is a Canadian shortstop whose passion for the game of baseball exceeds appreciation as ashe feels the most like herself on the field.
McCormack, who is also originally from Canada, had recurring roles in the Syfy series Kill Joys and the Crave series Letterkenny. She will also be seen in the upcoming Paramount + series, George and Tammy.
Melanie Field as Jo Deluca
Jo is “a power hitter from Queens, who has survived countless escapades with her best friend, Greta. Boisterous and up for anything, Jo will defend her teammates til the end.”
Field assumed one of the lead roles in the Paramount Network series Heathers, a short-lived TV series based on the 1980s black comedy film. Field had a recurring role in the Netflix series You as Sunrise, a stay at home mommy-blogger and was a cast member of the second season on the TNT series The Alienist.
Nick Offerman as Casey ‘Dove’ Porter
Offerman will take on the key role as the coach of the budding sports team. Dove is described as a “former Cubs pitcher who is brought in to coach the Rockford Peaches.” His presence in the show is significant as his nickname derives from him killing a dove in mid-air in the middle of a game with a forkball pitch.
Offerman is most known for his role as Ron Swanson on the NBC series Parks and Recreation and his award-winning role after appearing in the second season of the FX series Fargo as Karl Weathers. He will appear in the upcoming Mission Impossible film set to be released in 2024.
Other recurring cast members in A League of Their Own include include Kate Berlant, Molly Ephraim, Nat Faxon, and a guest appearance from comedian and former talk-show host Rosie O’Donnell who starred in the original film.
