Sonic 3 movie updates: When is Sonic The Hedgehog 3 coming out in theaters?

Get ready to go real fast once again! Paramount Pictures has revealed when Sonic The Hedgehog 3 is coming out in theaters. Anxious to catch Sonic 3? Here’s everything we know about the movie so far.

Not only has Paramount Pictures finally shared the release date for Sonic 3, but we also have an update on the Smurfs Animated Musical (untitled). And, don’t forget, we also have the Sonic spin-off that will focus on the character Knuckles (to be voiced by Idris Elba) to look forward to, which will premiere on the Paramount+ streaming platform.

When is Sonic 3 coming out in theaters?

Are we in for a short or long wait for the Sonic 3 movie? I’m afraid it’s the latter! According to Deadline, who broke the news, Paramount Pictures revealed that Sonic 3 will be in theaters on Dec. 20, 2024. While I love that it’ll be here during the Christmas season, the year 2024 seems like it’s so far away.

On the bright side, the Knuckles spin-off will come out before that time, so at least we’ll have something Sonic-related to enjoy.

Think that’s a long wait? Well, the wait is longer for the upcoming Smurfs Animated Musical, which has been pushed to Feb. 14, 2025. As soon as we have more updates on this untitled project, we’ll update you!

It’s too early to know more details about Sonic 3, so we are still not sure who will star — but it’s a safe bet that Ben Schwartz will return to voice Sonic (I mean, who else can pull it off?), as well as James Marsden, Jim Carrey, Lee Majdoub, and Tika Sumpter. We also do know that the character Shadow will likely be the main focus in the upcoming movie.
