Tom Cruise-led popular film, Top Gun: Maverick, hit theaters May 27, 2022. Since then, fans have been wondering if the Paramount Pictures film would be coming to the company’s streaming service.

The hit movie takes us into the life of Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, after 30 years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators. Now he’s where he belongs as a courageous test pilot, Paramount shares. But when he has to train graduates for a special assignment, he has to confront the ghosts of his past and his deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who choose to fly it.

The highly successful sequel to the 1986 film, Top Gun, has made over $1 billion in the box office. It’s very popular! And whether cinema-goers want to watch it again, or you just want to watch the movie from home, you might be wondering when the production is coming to streaming.

When is Top Gun: Maverick streaming on Paramount+?

* UPDATE 11/22/22: Top Gun: Maverick will begin streaming Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022 on Paramount+.

Top Gun: Maverick was supposed to be released on Paramount+ 45 days following its theatrical release. That would have been July 11. However as subscribers to the streaming service know, the movie is not currently in the catalog. It’s not really known why the film hasn’t been added, and there’s been no news from Paramount announcing when, and if, it will be.

However, the new Top Gun movie will be available to purchase digitally beginning Aug. 23! Fans will then be able to buy it on Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD, and DVD on Nov. 1. Each release will include 110 additional minutes of action-packed bonus content, behind-the-scenes footage, music videos from Lady Gaga and OneRepublic, and a trailer for Cruise’s next Mission Impossible movie.

The news is a bit disappointing, as those with a streaming subscription mostly rely on that to be able to watch new movies and shows. Now, if you want Top Gun: Maverick, it will have to be an additional cost.
