House of the Dragon age rating: Is the series suitable for kids?

The Game of Thrones prequel series is almost here, and you won’t want to wait to watch the first episodede. Can you watch it with the kids around? What is the House of the Dragon age rating?

The time has come. Almost. The Game of Thrones prequel series about the Targaryen dynasty premieres this weekend. Of course, you don’t want to wait for the new episode, but you may have to if you have kids in the house.

It’s important to check out the age rating of any show you’re thinking about watching. You need to know if it is or isn’t suitable for the children in the house. So,  what is the House of the Dragon age rating?

House of the Dragon age rating

As the series hasn’t yet officially premiered, the official age rating isn’t available. We can make a pretty good assumption, though. There is no way this series is going to be suitable for children in the house.

It’s a prequel to Game of Thrones, and there’s no reason to think that it won’t match the Game of Thrones age rating. That means we’re looking at a TV-MA. It’s the same as an R-rated movie, so suitable for 18+.

GoT was filled with nudity, foul language, and violence. That’s great for fans, but not so great for children in the house. We can’t see House of the Dragon working without any of the same language and violence, and we’ll also likely see much of the same in terms of nudity. After all, the series is about the Targaryen civil war. We know the Targaryen dynasty was full of wars and bloodshed, and a civil war is always full of trauma and shocking events.

You’re the one who will get to say what your children watch, of course. It’s worth watching the first episode to get an idea of what to expect to see if it’s suitable for your children.

House of the Dragon premieres on Sunday, Aug. 21 on HBO and HBO Max.
