What is Avalon starring Neve Campbell about on ABC?

New drama series Avalon is officially in the works at ABC. The Lincoln Lawyer star, Neve Campbell, will lead the upcoming network show!

According to Deadline, the show is based on a short story by Michael Connelly. David E. Kelly created the series, with A+E Studios and 20th Television behind the production. Campbell has worked with Kelly before on the Netflix series, which is also based on a book by Connelly.

The new series is executive produced by Kelley and the author. The creator also wrote the pilot episode. Dana Calvo, Barry Jossen, and Tana Jamieson serve as executive producers behind the scenes, the news outlet reports.

Deadline reports that the series takes place in the titular city located on Catalina Island. In Avalon, Detective Nicole “Nic” Searcy (Campbell) of the L.A. Sheriff’s Department has set up a small office. Nic isn’t easily intimidated and holds firm to her morals. But it’s her strong moral compass that got her banished to Avalon in the first place. No big city cop would want to be there, but she’ll learn how her valuable skills may be needed more in Avalon than she could have imagined.

The city sees more than a million tourists a year. And with the arrival of ferries every day, that means there’s hundreds of potential new stories coming to the island. The detective will be put into a “career-defining mystery” that changes what she knows about herself and the place she lives, the news outlet reports.
