The Last of Us cast: Who’s in the HBO series?

With a game as epic as The Last of Us, it’s no surprise why fans all over the world are anticipating the HBO live-action remake.

Needless to say, fans’ anticipation doesn’t come without a few hesitations, as, more often than not, live-action series never seem to live up to the hype of the original. However, we’re sure that fans won’t have to worry about that, mainly because the official cast of the upcoming title is seriously stacked.

The Last of Us cast

Playing the role of Joel, the protagonist of the video game’s first installment, is none other than Pedro Pascal, the talented actor who also starred in the likes of The Mandalorian, Wonder Woman 1984, and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.

Pascal shared his experience during his ComicBook interview back in March 2022. He shared, “It is covered in clickers and spores. We’re having an amazing time. It’s totally harrowing. I don’t know if we’ll [Joel and Ellie] make it, but it’ll be completely worth it. It is amazing. I’m having an amazing time.”

Before finishing off his interview, the 47-year-old actor reiterated once more that he “doesn’t know if [Joel] will make it”. However, we’re sure to find out whether there’s any truth to his statement very soon.

In addition to Pascal, Game of Thrones actress Bella Ramsey will be playing the female lead, Ellie. Contrary to Pascal, Ramsey was a little nervous about such a major role.

“[The Last of Us] does definitely feel like the biggest thing I have done and I have to not think about that too much as it freaks me out a little bit,” Ramsey expressed to BBC. “When I got over here I had two weeks’ quarantine alone with my thoughts and I had to not think about the scale of it.”

Thankfully, she shook off the fear and eventually stepped into the role with ease.

“Game of Thrones was the first thing I ever did and that was HBO,” Ramsey stated. “So it feels like it’s come full circle – it’s really nice.”
