What is The Last of Us starring Pedro Pascal about?

Actor Pedro Pascal and young actress Bella Ramsey are set to star in HBO‘s new series, The Last of Us. We don’t have a premiere date yet, but a teaser revealed the upcoming show will be coming to our screens sometime next year.

Joining Pascal and Ramsey onscreen are Gabriel Luna, Merle Dandridge, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Nick Offerman, Jeffrey Pierce, and Anna Torv.

Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin serve as co-creators, writers, directors, and executive producers. Joining them with EP duties are Carolyn Strauss, Evan Wells, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, and Rose Lam. Leading behind the camera are directors Kantemir Balagov, Jasmila Žbanić, Ali Abbasi, Peter Hoar, Jeremy Webb, and Liza Johnson.

What is The Last of Us starring Pedro Pascal about?

The story takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel (Pascal) is a hardened survivor who is tasked with smuggling 14-year-old Ellie (Ramsey) out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal and heartbreaking journey. The two have to traverse the U.S. and depend on each other to survive.

The series is based on the video game of the same name, developed by Naughty Dog for PlayStation. The HBO show was co-produced with PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures Television.

Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker, who voiced Ellie and Joel in the game, will also appear in the series to play different characters from those they voiced. It’s not known yet how big their roles will be.
