You know it’s not the same as it was. Harry Styles juggling between acting and his successful music career (that includes a Grammy Award, by the way) garnered nothing but praise from fans all over the world. However, it appears that the global superstar wants to take a step back from being a jack of all trades.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Styles, 28, isn’t in a rush to run back to a film or TV set any time soon simply because he’s not “craving” acting as much as he’s craving his one true love, music.

“I don’t imagine I’d do a movie for a while,” Styles expressed. “[W]hen you’re making music, something’s happening. It feels really creative, and it feeds stuff. A large part of acting is the doing nothing, waiting thing. Which if that’s the worst part, then it’s a pretty good job. But I don’t find that section of it to be that fulfilling. I like doing it in the moment, but I don’t think I’ll do it a lot.”

But don’t worry, the British musician isn’t saying never. Rather, he’s saying “I think there’ll be a time again when I’ll crave it”, meaning he’ll be back on the big screen before you know it.

Harry Styles’ upcoming acting roles

With Harry Styles taking a break from acting in the near future, this is probably the best time to catch his upcoming projects. Specifically, the highly anticipated films Don’t Worry Darling and My Policeman.

In Don’t Worry Darling, Styles plays the role of Jack Chambers, a charming husband who doesn’t want his wife, Alice Chambers (Florence Pugh), to succumb to her paranoia that the town they reside in is unusual and unsafe.

Here’s the full premise (as per Don’t Worry Darling‘s Wikipedia):

"Alice and Jack Chambers are a young, happy couple in the 1950s, living in the seemingly perfect company town of Victory, California, which has been created and paid for by the mysterious company Jack is working for. Curiosity about the nature of her husband’s work on the secret “Victory Project” begins to consume Alice while cracks begin to form in their utopian life as her investigation of the project raises tensions within the community."

And since you’re already here, you might as well check out the unnerving official trailer below.

Regarding My Policeman, Harry Styles plays the role of Tom Burgess alongside Emma Corrin and David Dawson.

Tom is a man who lives a fairly normal life. That is until Patrick Hazlewood (Dawson) arrives and changes everything. With everything he thought he knew about himself fading away, Tom will now have to choose between who he was and who he wants to be in a time when being extraordinary is going against the grain.

See the full synopsis below:

"A beautifully crafted story of forbidden love and changing social conventions, My Policeman follows three young people – policeman Tom, teacher Marion, and museum curator Patrick – as they embark on an emotional journey in 1950s Britain.Flashing forward to the 1990s, Tom, Marion, and Patrick are still reeling with longing and regret, but now they have one last chance to repair the damage of the past."

Styles is also rumored to star in Dan Gilroy’s Faster, Cheaper, Better. However, this is currently unconfirmed…for now. (Maybe he’ll change his mind?)

Harry Styles may be putting his acting shoes away for now, but perhaps watching Don’t Worry Darling in theaters on Friday, Sept. 23, and My Policeman in select theaters on Friday, Oct. 21, will make it feel like he never left Hollywood.
