The news outlet reports Amy Chozick and Julie Plec serve as writers and executive producers. The series is also executive produced by showrunner Rina Mimoun, Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter.
So what can we expect to see in the upcoming show?
What is The Girls on the Bus starring Melissa Benoist about on HBO Max?
According to Variety, The Girls on the Bus is a comedic, character-driven drama that follows four female journalists who follow every move of numerous flawed presidential candidates. They find friendship, love, and scandal along the way. The HBO Max series is inspired by a chapter in Chozick’s book, Chasing Hillary.
Benoist will play Sadie McCarthy, a journalist who romanticizes the Boys on the Bus book by Tim Crouse, Deadline reports. She scrapped her own life for a shot at covering a presidential campaign. The writer goes on the road and bonds with three female competitors – Grace, Lola (Behnam), and Kimberlyn (Elmore).
But despite their differences, the women form a strong bond, and get a front-row seat to the greatest soap opera in town: the battle for the White House, according to the news outlet. Foley has been cast in a recurring role as a not so known mayor from Kansas who has joined the presidential race.
