It’s almost time to fall under the Sanderson sisters’ spell once again with the arrival of Hocus Pocus 2 very soon! The beloved 1993 Halloween movie is a must-watch every spooky season, and brings delight to people of all ages.

The Sanderson sisters have been a holiday staple for years. If you can believe it, the movie actually didn’t get great reviews by critics and didn’t do well in the box office. But the audience was eventually captured under the spell of the story. Now you just can’t imagine Halloween without Hocus Pocus!

The first film’s director, Kenny Ortega, will not be behind the cameras for the sequel. That responsibility has fallen to director Anne Fletcher. Jen D’Angelo wrote the script, with Lynn Harris serving as producer.

Ready for more witchy business? Here’s everything we know about Hocus Pocus 2!

Hocus Pocus 2 release date

Disney first announced a sequel was in the works in May 2021. And since then, fans have been eagerly waiting to know when to expect the movie. Hocus Pocus 2 will be streaming this year starting Friday, Sept. 30 on Disney+!

Hocus Pocus 2 synopsis

The sequel sees the Sanderson sisters back, and they’re ready to cause trouble once again! It’s been 29 years since someone last lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th century witches. Now, they’re looking for revenge. It’s going to be up to three high school students to figure out how to stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before midnight on All Hallow’s Eve.

Hocus Pocus 2 cast

Original cast members

  • Bette Midler as Winifred “Winnie” Sanderson
  • Kathy Najimy as Mary Sanderson
  • Sarah Jessica Parker as Sarah Sanderson

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like Max, Dani, or Allison will make any appearances. Hopefully they’ve moved far away from Salem. But a brief cameo would be a nice surprise – maybe we’ll get one? We’ll have to wait and see!

Hocus Pocus 2 trailers

The trailers for the film gave us a quick look at the infamous Sanderson sisters, but that little glimpse was enough to get us all sorts of excited! Winnie warns Salem to lock up their children, Book is awake once again, and there’s another black cat roaming around. And it seems like there will be plenty of callbacks to the first film!
