The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave was a huge hit. It’s not surprising to hear that it’s getting an adaptation, and here’s what we know so far.
If you haven’t read The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave yet, you’ll want to check it out immediately. This is a great twisty thriller that leaves you wanting more and doesn’t go around all the usual tropes that mysteries offer.
Back in January 2021, we found out the book was getting an adaptation. In fact, this was ahead of the release of the novel in May of the same year! Julia Roberts was announced as the lead in the series, but she stepped down later in the year. Jennifer Garner is now the lead, and will also be a producer on the series.
What exactly do we know about the TV series? Here’s everything so far.
The Last Thing He Told Me release date predictions
As of right now, the series doesn’t have a release date. Filming only just started in May of this year, so it’s not surprising there isn’t a release date just yet.
We’re looking at sometime in spring or summer of 2023 at the earliest. The series will arrive on Apple TV+, which means it’s going to get a weekly release format. We’ll be sure to update as soon as we know the release date.
The Last Thing He Told Me cast
Jennifer Garner will now take on the lead role in the series. She’ll play Hannah, who tells the entire story in the novel.
She’ll be joined by:

The Last Thing He Told Me synopsis
The series is set to follow the same storyline as the book. Dave has written the screenplay to make sure the adaptation stays true to form.
Hannah tells the story when her husband unexpectedly leaves her. She and her stepdaughter, Bailey, need to figure out why Owen has gone and why he left a bulk of cash for her. Bailey doesn’t really want to go on the journey, but she doesn’t have a choice. The two end up forming an unlikely bond as Hannah learns that her husband has a few secrets in his past.
The show is billed as a miniseries, which makes sense considering the way the novel wraps things up at the end.
