One of the biggest pieces of news from the D23 expo on this revolved around Disenchanted, Disney’s sequel to their 2007 movie Enchanted. On Sept. 9, Disney debuted the first official trailer for Disenchanted and had a panel of the cast appear to promote the film.

Enchanted, released in 2007 starring Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, Susan Sarandon and Idina Menzel. The film has many references and jokes revolving around past works from Disney and was an instant hit after being released.

Enchanted was directed by Kevin Lima while Adam Shankman directs the sequel. Shankman has directed films like Hairspray, The Pacifier, Cheaper by the Dozen 2 and Bedtime Stories.

Disenchanted release date

Disenchanted trailer

The Disenchanted trailer showcases that this movie is not what it seems. We can see that Giselle has been living in the city with Robert and Morgan for the past 15 years. They are moving to the suburbs to help shake things up in their lives.

Our antagonist looks to be Malvina Monroe played by Maya Rudolph, but the trailer seems to show a different picture. Amy Adams looks to be some form of evil stepmother after making a wish for a fairytale life.

This trailer showcases how the original film and the sequel play into each other. The first film showcased a fairytale character wishing for a normal life whereas this time, we are seeing a real-world character wishing for more magic in their life.
