Who is the Raven in the NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i crossover premiere?
NCIS returned for season 20 and continued where we left off on the search for Parker. With the FBI still looking for the “fugitive,” the team must figure out where they are while also tracking the elusive Raven. Plus, while all this is happening, the NCIS: Hawai’i crew make their appearance as well, as they prepare for a conference. Let’s go over what happened on the NCIS/NCIS: Hawaii crossover episodes.
As you may recall, the season 19 finale made it appear as though Vivian was plotting against her ex-husband. However, she was actually trying to get Tobias Fornell’s help while also getting the FBI’s tail off of them.
While the team, aka Jimmy and Kasie, work to figure out what is up with them, they are also looking into prisoners who are filing appeals based on Parker’s fugitive status. One in particular, Herman Maxwell, was a hacker who Parker had put away.

It appears as though Maxwell was part of the Raven’s organization, and he even tries to work the team by helping in exchange for protection. Unfortunately, the FBI inadvertently ruins their plans and this leads to armed men “kidnapping” Maxwell. But when Parker spots a smile on his face, he realizes Maxwell was the Raven all along.
While Vivian is hospitalized after being shot, Knight and Torres are tasked with joining Agent Tennant back in Hawaii when it’s clear Maxwell took a plane there. While on the hunt for Maxwell, the personal lives of the NCIS: Hawai’i crew are briefly highlighted.
Tennant and Torres have some chemistry that is brewing and Ernie is still crushing on Knight, who is not quite calling Jimmy her boyfriend but we know he is. And Lucy and Kate are clearly in love and enjoying their relationship in the midst of trying to find a wanted fugitive.
There were some amusing moments in an otherwise tense episode. While Ernie was feeling off about not being able to figure out Maxwell’s steps, Lucy and Kate help by talking happily about their relationship, which helps him focus. Hey, whatever works!
They’re able to determine that Herman Maxwell was actually Jason Hearnes, who was a student of a man named Professor Skaggs. The professor had developed a program to help people identify hate groups, but unfortunately Jason used it to create his own group.
Jason felt abandoned by Skaggs and was going to get revenge on him by killing his son during a military exercise. Luckily, with Boom-Boom’s partner Bam-Bam’s help, the team was able to disable the bomb before anyone can get hurt.
Now that the actual Raven has finally been found, the team can go back home and move on from that nightmare. It was actually cool to see how they were able to make it look like Parker was being double crossed when actually, Vivian was trying to help.
Of course, Parker does have his issues with having a temper at the first sign of betrayal, but hopefully we’ll get to see some development for his character. With the new season upon us, we’re looking forward to seeing what else is next for the NCIS and NCIS: Hawaii crew.
