Rosaline Hulu release date, synopsis, trailer, and more

A new fun, romantic comedy is coming our way this fall, and I think it’s one to definitely check out! Hulu is putting a spin on the classic Romeo and Juliet story in its upcoming original film, Rosaline.

In William Shakespeare’s tragedy, Rosaline is an “unseen” character. But Lord Capulet’s niece is an important character as she does not return Romeo’s love. This leads him to a gathering hosted by the family to try and catch a glimpse of her. Instead, this is where Romeo sees Juliet for the first time.

The movie was directed by Karen Maine from a screenplay by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber. It is based on the novel When You Were Mine by Rebecca Serle. Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, and Dan Levine serve as producers, with Kaitlin Dever, Scott Neustadter, Weber, Whitney Brown, Emily Morris, and Becca Edelman executive producing.

Rosaline Hulu release date

The production will begin streaming Friday, Oct. 14 as a Hulu Original film in the U.S., a Star+ Original in Latin America, and Star Original on Disney+ in other countries the streaming service serves.

Rosaline Hulu synopsis

The comedic twist is a retelling of the story we all know but from the perspective of the titular character, who is Romeo’s ex and Juliet’s cousin. Heartbroken when Romeo meets Juliet and begins to pursue her, she schemes up ways to break the new couple apart to win her guy back.

The trailer really sets the mood for the upcoming film, which seems to be going for a more lighthearted approach! The trailer reveals that Juliet finds out about her cousin’s schemes, the heartbroken ex is going to do what she can to separate the famous couple, and perhaps Dario may actually be her perfect match instead of Romeo? I don’t know, that’s just me making some predictions! It seems like the two will team up and he might be helping her with her plans.
