We are on the verge of the SPOOKY season, and we have a couple of horror movies set to come out to get you in the mood. Below, we share the best new weekend movies to watch in theaters and available on streaming services that you won’t want to miss.

Honestly, this might be one of the most loaded slates for a weekend we have had all month. Whether you want to stay at home and watch a movie or go to theaters and check one out, there is a wide range of options—no better time for movies than the fall.

Weekend movies to watch (and stream) today

  • Bros(Theaters)
  • Smile, (Theaters)
  • The Greatest Beer Run Ever, (Apple TV+)
  • Hocus Pocus 2, (Disney +)
  • My Best Friend’s Exorcism, (Prime Video)

Fun fact about Smile, the film was supposed to hit streaming/VOD upon its release. However, after the test screening of the film, scores were so high they pushed the film into theaters. That should make us all excited about this movie because that is a HUGE shift, especially in this day and age with streaming.

I am sure you are like me and are TERRIFIED of the attempt to reconnect us to one of our favorite films as a kid in Hocus Pocus 2. The original is such a perfect movie, it scares me that they might tarnish the legacy with a bad sequel. With that being said, the trailer does look rather good in how they are bringing back the Sanderson sisters. So if the movie matches the trailer, we could be in for another nostaglic ride.

For the rest of the slate, The Greatest Beer Run Ever starring Zac Efron about a guy who brought beer to his buddies in the middle of the war is set to come out this weekend. It comes from the writer and director of Green Book. It’ll be interesting to see how Efron is in a more serious style of a role.
