Florence Pugh stars as Alice Chambers, a young housewife in 1950s America. Alice lives with her husband, Jack (Harry Styles), in Victory, California, where all the men go to work at Victory Headquarters. Despite the idyllic life, Alice begins to question Jack’s work on a secret “Victory Project.” The more Alice seeks the truth, the more her life begins to crumble.
Don’t Worry Darling is the second feature film directed by Olivia Wilde, who also stars in a supporting role. Gemma Chan, Nick Kroll, KiKi Layne, and Chris Pine round out the ensemble.
The thriller opened in theaters on Sept. 23 to a respectable $19.4 million domestically, which was good enough for the top spot. After its theatrical run, when will fans be able to own DWD on Blu-ray and DVD?
Don’t Worry Darling Blu-ray/DVD release date predictions
First of all, fans can see still see Pugh and Styles on the big screen as the film remains in theaters. Check your local listings for showtimes and purchase tickets on an app like Fandango. As of Sept. 29, no date has been finalized for the Blu-ray and DVD release date. By using the timeline from a film under Warner Bros., we can estimate when DWD will be available to purchase.
Let’s look at another Warner Bros. movie, Elvis. The biopic starring Austin Butler as the titular character opened in theaters on June 24. It didn’t arrive on Blu-ray and DVD until Sept. 13. However, Elvis had a successful box office run, grossing almost $300 million worldwide. This prolonged the Blu-ray and DVD release date.
Don’t Worry Darling is not expected to make $300 million worldwide. So if we take the typical 45-day theatrical window and compare that to the 80 days it took for Elvis to come up for purchase, fans can expect DWD to arrive on Blu-ray and DVD sometime between mid-October to Thanksgiving. Make sure to check back when the date is finalized.
