Peacock just released a new miniseries entitled A Friend of the Family. The show’s storyline follows events that were previously covered in the Netflix true crime documentary Abducted in Plain Sight which detailed the timeline of multiple kidnappings of a young Jan Broberg by then-family friend Robert Berchtold.

The series was created by Nick Antosca (The Act). The show is executive produced by Nick Antosca, Alex Hedlund, Eliza Hittman and produced by Jan Broberg and Mary Ann Broberg, who are the actual daughter and mother featured in the series.

The series stars Jake Lacy as Robert Berchtold, Anna Paquin as Mary Ann Broberg, Colin Hanks as Bob Broberg, Lio Tipton as Gail Berchtold, Mckenna Grace as Jan Broberg.

The miniseries is set to premiere nine episodes on the streaming platform. Since this is a limited series, it is expected that there won’t be a second season. You can stream the first four episodes of A Friend of the Family now. Each new episode after this week will drop every Thursday on Peacock.

A Friend of the Family showcases the dramatized but true story of Robert Berchtold, a close friend of the Broberg family, who kidnaps the youngest member, Jan Broberg multiple times over the years. The series debuted on Thur, Oct. 6.
