Walker Independence soundtrack: Songs featured in the premiere
By Sabrina Reed
Walker Independence has finally premiered on The CW! The prequel series introduces viewers to Abigail Walker’s story in the 1800s. She’s a recently widowed woman seeking justice in Independence, TX but it’s going to be a long road for her considering she suspects the newly sworn in sheriff Tom Davidson committed the murder.
Now with a reluctant Hoyt Rawlins and a sympathizing Calian by her side, Abby intends to get to the bottom of what happened to her husband. She’ll also be settling into town and carving out her own space in the community as it becomes her home.
Musically, the pilot episode of the show leans heavily into the period but the song choices are quite anachronistic. With exception to “Cielito Lindo,” which was sung by Lucia at the saloon, the songs that play are all from the modern era. Though even that song was popularized in the 1880s, years after the time Walker Independence takes place.
From electric guitar heavy rock to a haunting take on folk songs like “Wayfaring Stranger,” the premiere’s tracklist set the scene for an epic western that’ll have fans enthralled all season. Here’s the music featured in the episode!
