Daemon sang in Valyrian to a dragon during the House of the Dragon Season 1 finale. Which dragon was he calling out with his song?

One thing was clear while Daemon sang in Valyrian. He wasn’t certain about the dragon he was singing to. This dragon was big, and anyone who has been anywhere near dragons knows that they are unpredictable, even after they’ve accepted a rider. Aemond found that out the hard way while he fought with his young nephew, Luc, while in the air.

It’s clear that Daemon knew this dragon he was singing to was worth the risk. Just who was he calling to, and what does it mean for House of the Dragon Season 2?

Daemon was calling out Vermithor in House of the Dragon

The name of the dragon was already mentioned, and it’s one who caught Rhaena’s attention when Daemon was talking. This dragon is one that has seen war. It’s also one of the largest dragons in Westeros—although not as large as Vhagar, who Aemond couldn’t control in the air.

Daemon was calling to Vermithor.

Vermithor was Jaehaerys I’s dragon. It’s not surprising that Rhaena’s ears picked up at the idea of Vermithor still being riderless since Jaehaerys’s death. This dragon has seen war and is large. He will be a good addition to Rhaenyra’s side.

Those who have read Fire & Blood by George R.R. Martin will know how it all ends for Vermithor—including who rides him and which side he is forced to fight on. The question is whether the show will continue the story in this way. After all, there have already been a few changes, including how Aemond didn’t actually want to kill Luc while they were in the air on Vhagar and Arrax.
