Prince Harry’s memoir will be released in January 2023

Prince Harry’s new memoir, titled Spare, will be coming to bookshelves and digital early next year! The highly-anticipated book that is a “remarkably personal and emotionally powerful story” of the royal is being published by Penguin Random House.

The name of the book seems to be referring to the fact that the prince is seen as a “spare,” since his brother Prince William and his children are the heirs to the British throne. In early 2020, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan stepped back as working royals. It’s been revealed through interviews that there is some tension between the royal and some members of his family. The couple now resides in Santa Barbara, California with their two children, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor and  Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor.

The 38-year-old Duke of Sussex announced the news that he’d be writing a memoir in June 2021, with a release originally being set for late 2022. Though it got pushed back, thankfully, we now know when the story will hit bookstands!

When will Prince Harry’s memoir be released?

Spare will be released Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023 worldwide. The book will be published in multiple countries including the UK, Canada, and India.

It will also be published in 15 languages including Spanish, German, French, among others. In the U.S., you can currently pre-order the memoir on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Target, and more.

What is Prince Harry’s upcoming memoir about?

According to Penguin Random House, the memoir will focus on the aftermath of Princess Diana’s death in 1997, and the effect it had on the 12-year-old at the time. Here is what the publishing company shared:

The royal will be donating proceeds he receives from the memoir to British charities.
