Spoilers ahead of The Winchesters episode 4 and 5

The Winchesters episode 4, “Masters of War,” gave us insight into Carlos’ past in the Navy and set John up for a dark path as he wrestled with his anger. Both men have been struggling with how war has affected them, but while Carlos is willing to seek help, John is trying to shoulder his pain mostly on his own.

Considering how the episode played out, we can expect to see more of John’s dark side beginning to surface as he contends with the evil he and his friends are up against. In contrast, Mary has begun to find some peace despite still searching for her father, Samuel, and sorting through her own grief over the loss of her cousin, Maggie.

With Latta’s help, she was able to exercise some of the pain surrounding Maggie’s death, discovered her cousin’s means of still seeing the light in spite of all the darkness the life of a Hunter entails, and moved forward enough in her emotions to allow Carlos to stay in her cousin’s old bedroom.

It does seem that while Mary is continuing to grow, John is slowly starting to spiral. Will we continue to see that trend in the next episode? We’ll have to wait and see, but unfortunately, that wait is going to be a bit longer than usual. Here’s what we know about episode 5!

The Winchesters episode 5 release date

The Winchesters is going on a two week hiatus. As such, “Legend of a Mind,” will premiere on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 8 p.m. ET. If you miss the episode, it’ll be available to stream next day on cwtv.com and the CW App. The streaming service is free, you don’t need a log-in, subscription, or authentication to watch the network’s content and licensed movies and shows on the platform.

The official synopsis for “Legend of a Mind” via The CW:

"SECRETS UNCOVERED – Hidden secrets from Ada’s past comes to light when the gang goes undercover to look into a suspicious death. Still reeling from the last Hunt, Millie asks Mary to keep an eye on John as they split off from the others to get intel on the new case. Carlos and Ada’s stakeout connects the victim to the next target. Latika’s research comes up with some interesting results that lead John to be Mary’s lifeline out of a sticky situation."
