Is House of the Dragon Season 2 coming in 2023?

We’re excited to see what’s coming next in House of the Dragon Season 2. Now the question is when the premiere will be. Will it be in 2023?

House of the Dragon Season 1 came to an end less than a month ago. There is still a lot to break down, and there are some big dragon battles to look forward to. Of course you want to see what’s to come, and you want to see it right away.

We knew there was no chance of getting House of the Dragon Season 2 in 2022. Considering the first season only premiered in August of this year and wrapped in October, there was never enough time to get another season ready in time. The renewal only came in during the summer. Is there a chance we’ll get to see the new season in 2023?

House of the Dragon Season 2 is probably coming in 2024

HBO exec Casey Bloys has made it clear that there’s a chance we’ll have to wait until 2024 for House of the Dragon Season 2. This isn’t to disappoint us but to prepare us.

He told Vulture that he doesn’t want to set the date right now. While he and everyone involved in the production of the series has an idea of how long it will take and when they could get the new season out, he doesn’t want to set a date and miss it. We know how disappointing that is as fans.

The wait probably isn’t going to be as long as The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 on Prime Video. The graphics are not quite as extensive as the Amazon series, but they are still good and they do take time. It’s the post-production stage that takes a long time.

This doesn’t mean 2023 is off the table. There is a slim chance, but Bloys knows how TV works and he knows how long it could take. We trust him with a 2024 premiere date prediction.
