Is Walker Independence new tonight? (Nov. 24, 2022)

Walker Independence, The CW’s latest period drama and prequel series, has been an exhilarating ride since its premiere in October. With its twists and turns, the simple tale of Abigail Walker, a woman determined to bring her husband’s murderer to justice has complicated itself tenfold as more pieces of the story have been revealed.

We’ve also learned more about her allies Hoyt, Calian, and Kate. Seen Gus’ distrust slowly begin to thaw when it comes to Independence’s newest resident. Watched as Tom’s fondness for her continues to escalate. And been kept on hold when it comes to Kai, the restaurateur and seamster whose past is becoming less mysterious but growing more dangerous as it trickles into the story.

With it being the holiday, can fans of the show anticipate a new episode of Walker Independence or is the show on hiatus? Here’s what we know!

Is Walker Independence new tonight on The CW?

No, a new episode of the series won’t air tonight. The show premiered its fall finale on Nov. 17 with episode 7, “The Owl and the Arrow.” The heart-wrenching episode saw Calian stand trial for a crime he didn’t commit and, though he was acquitted, he nearly lost his life thanks to the town’s quickness to pin the crime on him.

Understandably, fans of Walker Independence want to get back to the show to know what happens next, but the series won’t be returning until 2023. Tonight, a rerun of A Waltons Thanksgiving will air at 8 p.m. – 10 p.m. ET.

When does Walker Independence return with new episodes?

Reporting is mixed on the show’s return date. Emmys has Walker Independence returning to The CW on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023 at 9 p.m. ET. However, IMDb states episode 8 will air on Jan. 5. The CW has yet to announce its midseason schedule. For now, we can say that the show will return in January of next year, so the wait for new episodes won’t be too long.

Watch the trailer for the second half of the season below:

An official title and synopsis has yet to be released for episode 8 of the season, however, the trailer above seems to suggest that we should be preparing for a time jump. We left these characters at significant points in their lives.

Abby held Tom’s life in her hands and it looks like she saved him. Now her sister has come to town, upsetting her carefully laid plans to keep her identity as Liam’s widow under wraps. Hoyt helped the Reyes family after Francis’ murder at the hands of his own son, and it looks like he’s sticking to the straight and narrow. As for Calian, he left Independence a free man and likely hasn’t been back since, but the promo shows he’ll need allies for an unnamed reason, so it’s possible he’ll be paying Gus and crew a visit soon.

The case to bring Tom to justice is still a central part of the plot, but we will be returning to Kai’s story, too. He owes the sheriff a debt due to an incident that happened before his time in Independence. Kai, too, will need the help of his community to evade those who seek to harm him for what he did in the past.
