Is Lavel Schley leaving East New York?

East New York, the latest cop drama to make a home on CBS aired its fall finale on Sunday, Nov. 27.

The episode, titled “When Dinosaurs Roamed the Earth,” saw Haywood and the team investigating the suspicious death of a retired cop. The former officer in question was going to come forward with claims of corruption, so the ruling that the death was a suicide didn’t add up.

However, by the close of the finale, there’s another pressing matter the team will have to contend with in the form of Officer Andre Bentley. He’d been shot and the culprit is still at large. Given his condition, should fans of the show be concerned about a departure for the character’s actor, Lavel Schley?

Here’s what we know about Bentley’s fate and Schley’s place in the cast!

Is Andre Bentley dead on East New York?

While we can’t say definitively, it’s not likely that Bentley has died. Schley is a part of the main cast of the show which means that this cliffhanger ending was meant to invoke emotion. It’s a good way of drawing viewers to tune into the midseason premiere that’ll air in 2023.

If Bentley survives, his storyline moving forward will most definitely deal with the trauma of being shot and possibly near death’s door. As well as the fallout from the shooting, how it ties into the corruption case, and his relationships with his partner Officer Marvin Sandeford and budding love Officer Brandy Quinlan. We’ll keep you posted if Schley is leaving the show and, therefore, how Bentley’s story is wrapped up.
