Where to stream Darby and the Dead online (Is it on Disney+?)
By Sabrina Reed
Darby and the Dead premiered Friday, Dec. 1. The teen comedy follows Darby Harper (Riele Downs), a high schooler who can see ghosts. She’s had the ability since she almost died as a child, and she’s been using it for good. Darby considers it her job to help ghosts pass on. She finds a sense of purpose in it, however, her preoccupation with their undead lives means that she doesn’t have a life of her own…at least not a social one.
When she’s coerced into helping her former childhood friend turned head cheerleader, Capri (Auli’i Cravalho), find peace, Darby is suddenly thrust into the world of the popular kids. The move is to ensure that despite the freak accident that claimed her life, Capri will be able to experience the Sweet 17 party she’d been planning.
Darby has to infiltrate Capri’s friend group and convince them to throw the party in honor of their deceased friend. If she doesn’t, Capri has threatened to haunt her and make her life a living hell. Begrudgingly, Darby does exactly what the ghost diva wants her to but along the way, she begins to realize it isn’t so bad hanging among the living.
At 90+ minutes, Darby and the Dead is an enjoyable, coming-of-age film with a sweet message inserted into typical teen fare that’s a good weekend watch. Where can you stream the movie? Here’s what we know!
Is Darby and the Dead on Disney+?
