Who played Cindy Lou Who in The Grinch?
By Sandy C.
The story of the Grinch is one of the most popular Christmas tales of all time. What started as a book created by Dr. Seuss, grew to a TV special (now beloved film), a live action movie, and a 3D animated film. All three works are played time and time again every holiday season, and we can’t get enough! Now, the Grinch may the center character, but we all fell in love with sweet Cindy Lou.
The most iconic portrayal of the Grinch, at least in my opinion is Jim Carrey‘s. In the TV special, the character is voiced by Boris Karloff, and in the 3D animated movie, he is voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch. But what about Cindy Lou? Who plays the kind girl who helps Grinch grow his heart three sizes?

June Foray is the first actress who gives Cindy Lou a voice in the TV special, and in the 2018 animated movie, the character is voiced by Cameron Seely. But the most popular Cindy Lou portrayal is in the 2000 live action take.
In How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000), Taylor Momsen is the actress who brings Cindy Lou to life. Momsen was eight years old at the time she landed her breakout role. The actress is also known for her roles in Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams, Hansel & Gretel, Underdog, and Spy School. Fans also recognize her as Jennifer “Jenny” Humphrey from Gossip Girl.
Momsen is also a musician and has four albums, the latest one is “Death by Rock and Roll,” which was released in 2021.
