John Challis’ wife reveals his new headstone with legendary Only Fools quote on it

It’s been decades since the classic BBC sitcom Only Fools and Horses was on air for its original run, but still, many people remember the show warmly and as a big part of their childhoods. The comedic series followed half-brothers Del Boy (David Jason) and Rodney Trotter (Nicholas Lyndhurst) as we watched their daily shenanigans including their plots to get rich. The show also featured many supporting characters, such as the car dealer Boycie, played by the late John Challis.

Throughout his career, Challis was well-known for his performances in theater as well as his role as Boycie in the BBC One comedy. He also starred in the Only Fools spin-off series, The Green Green Grass, which ran from 2005 to 2009. As fans of the actor and character will remember, he had a famous quote from one of the Only Fools episodes during that iconic séance scene: “I am here.”

As reported by the Mirror, Challis’ widow, Carol Challis, took to Twitter this week to share with fans a photo of John’s headstone. Below his name and dates of birth and death, the famous Only Fools quote can be seen etched at the bottom:

Fans were quick to respond to the tweet, all loving the quick nod to Boycie. Others wanted to know where they could find his burial site so they could visit and pay their respects. Luckily for them, Carol has been very forthcoming with the details and in another tweet, said he is located at the Leintwardine Cemetery and even provided directions:

Challis sadly died of cancer in Sept. 2021 at the age of 79. Unsurprisingly, many actors came out to pay tribute to the actor after his passing.
