Quantum Leap Season 2: Is a second season of the reboot happening?

Quantum Leap has taken over Monday nights in style. Is NBC happy with the show’s performance? Will Quantum Leap Season 2 happen?

The Quantum Leap reboot is actually more of a revival. Magic is the same Magic we met in the original series, and there have been plenty of mentions of Dr. Sam Beckett. It’s only a matter of time before there’s talk of getting Sam back from wherever he ended up—or at least trying!

For now, the focus is on Ben. He wasn’t supposed to leap at all. Yet, he chose to leap before the program was fully ready, and now the team is doing everything possible to get him back. It turns out that he took the leap of faith to save Addison, but we don’t yet know exactly why. That’s for the rest of the first season to explore.

Of course, there are questions about whether there will be more of this series to come. We have a full-season order for the first season, but what about a second season? Is Quantum Leap Season 2 going to happen?

Quantum Leap Season 2 is officially happening

There is some excellent news. NBC is definitely happy with the ratings for the series. While the live ratings on the night haven’t been the strongest, the delayed ratings through Peacock have been enough to make it clear this show needs to be renewed. NBC confirmed the good news on Monday, Dec. 12, according to TVLine.

There will be 18 episodes in the first season. That means there are another 10 episodes to air once the show returns on Monday, Jan. 2. We’ll then need to wait until likely fall 2023 for the second season.

So far, NBC has not confirmed an episode count for Quantum Leap Season 2. That usually happens much closer to the time of filming and can be fluid throughout the fall season. We’ll be sure to keep an eye on the updates as they happen.
