When is Fire Country back with new episodes in 2023?

“Pilot” – Max Thieriot stars as Bode Donovan, a young convict seeking redemption and a shortened prison sentence by joining a prison release firefighting program in Northern California where he and other inmates are partnered with elite firefighters to extinguish massive, unpredictable wildfires across the region. It’s a high-risk, high-reward assignment, and the heat is turned up when Bode is assigned to the program in his rural hometown, where he was once a golden all-American son until his troubles began. Five years ago, Bode burned down everything in his life, leaving town with a big secret. Now he’s back, with the rap sheet of a criminal and the audacity to believe in a chance for redemption with Cal Fire, on the series premiere of FIRE COUNTRY, Friday, Oct. 7 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+*. Series also stars Billy Burke, Kevin Alejandro, Diane Farr, Stephanie Arcila, Jordan Calloway and Jules Latimer. Pictured: Max Thieriot as Bode Donovan. Fire Country is officially on its winter break. Just how long do we need to wait for new episodes, and what can we expect when the show returns?

It’s winter break time. This is when all shows on broadcast networks go off the air for a few weeks. The live ratings take too much of a dip to risk the success of the shows. In early January, ratings tend to go up because it’s too cold and dark for people to go out and do things, especially when they’re saving money after the holiday season.

So, you’ll have noticed that there wasn’t a new episode of Fire Country last night. There isn’t another one in December at all. The next new episode is going to air in January.

When will Fire Country return in 2023?

The first new episode of 2023 will air on Friday, Jan. 6. It will air at 9 p.m. ET/PT as usual, slotting between SWAT and Blue Bloods, which are also returning on the same night.

Things aren’t looking good for Bode and the rest of the firefighters in the prison program. The synopsis tells us that someone is going to die. It doesn’t specifically say that it is someone in the fire program, but this would make the most sense. The prisoners don’t have the same training that firefighters do. Although, as we’ve seen from the pilot episode, there are times when firefighters make mistakes and are at risk of death, especially in the Californian wildfires.

There is an internal investigation throughout the episode. It looks like there’s a difficult rescue that doesn’t go to plan. Those in charge need to get to the bottom of it. Could it mean the Cal Fire program is at risk of being closed down?

"An internal investigation is launched after a difficult rescue went awry and a life was lost."
