Week 16 of the NFL season kicks off tonight on Thursday Night Football as two playoff contenders face off in a game that could hold major playoff implications!

With the postseason inching closer and closer, every win counts as the playoff picture continues to fall into place. Five teams have already been eliminated from playoff contention and more are expected to join them in the week ahead as the postseason begins slipping away from many teams.

Tonight’s game won’t result in any playoff eliminations, but it could very well help to determine whether the two teams facing off will make it to the postseason. As such, fans should be in for an exciting game as both teams look to keep their playoff dreams alive by taking down their opponent tonight.

Who plays Thursday Night Football tonight, December 22?

  • Matchup: Jacksonville Jaguars vs. New York Jets
  • Location: MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey

Tonight’s Thursday Night Football game will see the Jacksonville Jaguars (6-8) heading to East Rutherford to face the New York Jets (7-7) in a matchup between two playoff contenders. The Jaguars and Jets are both currently on the outside looking in which makes every game important for both teams as they look to keep their playoff hopes alive.

While the Jets are fighting for a Wild Card spot in the playoff, the Jaguars are still fighting to win their division with the Tennessee Titans now only ahead of them in the AFC South by one game.
