The Bold and the Beautiful‘s Christmas episode was more eventful than one might have thought when tuning in. Traditionally, while there are occasional revelations, the annual holiday gathering at Eric’s house is a time of thanks, merrymaking, laughter, and expressing the love these characters have for one another.

While there was plenty of what was expected, there was also a little surprise. Sorry Tridge fans, it didn’t involve Ridge and Taylor. The moment was reserved for Brooke and Ridge. They spent Christmas together in an event that was noticeably light on Forresters despite the holiday party taking place at the family mansion.

Here’s the full recap of events.

What happened today on The Bold and the Beautiful?

Eric’s place was full of cheer on today’s episode as his loved ones filled his home with caroling and festive games. They came pouring through the door one after the other. In attendance was Donna, of course, Katie, Brooke, Pam, Charlie, Zende, Paris, Liam, Hope, Carter, Douglas, Kelly, Beth, and later Ridge. Finn, Steffy, Taylor, and Thomas were absent with no excuse given for why they couldn’t make it or hadn’t been invited.

Still, the party was a joyful affair occasionally interrupted with heartfelt speeches about family and togetherness. Katie and Carter stole a kiss under the mistletoe, and we learned Paris and Zende got back together. All was well at the function, but there was more than one mention about the lack of Ridge’s presence.

Eric started the episode under the impression that his son wouldn’t be making an appearance. The family had rallied around Brooke in support of her, stating they understood her decision to part with Ridge. For one last time, I must mention that he never said he was coming back to her when he told her the truth about the CPS call. Nor did he give an actual answer to who he was going to choose before Brooke and Taylor chose themselves.

But, that’s neither here nor there now since the framing around this episode, in parts, heavily foreshadowed an eventual Bridge reunion. They even gave Ridge the slow-mo treatment when he came through the door, gifts in hand, as Brooke (and the rest of the family) turned to watch him enter. There was also some meddling as Pam and Charlie dangled mistletoe over Bridge’s heads from the balcony.

Yes, the exes did kiss and it was as loving as you’d expect but tentative. There’s definitely a road for them to come back, but it’s happening gradually. Ridge said he’s working on himself and communicating better. He’d admitted to his family that he thought he knew everything about life, love, and communication but he knows better now. Privately to Brooke he said that he does believe in her.

This episode showed Ridge’s intentions better than previous ones. He wanted to see Brooke during the holidays, so he came to see her. We’ll see where this takes them as we head toward New Year’s. Until next time, Bold fans, stay beautiful and have a very merry holiday!
