The University of Iowa Hawkeyes will make their Music City Bowl debut on Saturday, Dec. 31. The Big Ten team would have played their first game at this particular bowl back in 2020 against the University of Missouri Tigers, but the match was cancelled due to a COVID outbreak in Missouri’s program.
Now, two years down the line, the Hawkeyes are set to face-off against the University of Kentucky Wildcats. The Kentucky team made their debut in 1999, a year after the Bowl was first established. This 2022 game marks Kentucky’s sixth appearance at the annual Tennessee sports tradition over the past 23 years, they have a 2-3 record at the Bowl.
