The 2022 NFL season is nearly in the books with just one more week of play left in the season before the postseason begins. These final weeks of play have been crucial for many teams fighting to make it into the playoffs, including the New York Giants.
While New York’s chances of winning the NFC East were dashed weeks ago due to the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys’ current records — the two teams will face off in Week 18 with the division on the line — New York managed to keep their playoff dreams alive with some crucial wins in recent weeks.
Did the Giants make the playoffs?
It’s been six years since the New York Giants made it to the playoffs, but with their win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 17, the Giants clinched a playoff spot. While New York was unable to win their division, their record this season was enough to help them secure a Wild Card spot in the postseason. Regardless of whether they win or lose in Week 18, the Giants will be heading to the postseason.
Who could the Giants play in the playoffs?
Currently, the New York Giants are sitting in the No. 6 seed in the NFC and if that holds then they’ll be playing the No. 3 seed in the NFC. As of Week 17, the Giants would be facing the San Francisco 49ers in the first round of the playoffs. If there are any changes to the rankings of the NFC seeding, it’s possible the Giants could instead play the Minnesota Vikings.
Following the events of Week 18, we’ll know for certain who the Giants will face in the first round of the playoffs but it should be either the Vikings or the 49ers.
