A new film from 20th Century Fox will be coming to Hulu in 2023 and Kiera Knightley will star. Along with the movie, based on the true story of the Boston Strangler case, there will be a podcast that will also coincide with the film’s release. For those who love true crime, this will be one to watch for sure. So what is the Boston Strangler film starring Kiera Knightley about?
The film, which will be released on March 17, follows Knightley in her role as Loretta McLaughlin, who works as a reporter for the Record-American. She ends up finding a connection between multiple murders by the Boston Strangler, which occurred in the ‘60s.
She teams up with a colleague, Jean Cole (Carrie Coon), but they come up against issues related to sexism in the workplace, which was more prevalent back then. However, this doesn’t stop them from looking into the killings and trying to find out what is happening.
Along with Knightley and Coon, the film stars Alessandro Nivola, Chris Cooper, Morgan Spector, and more. The film was written and directed by Matt Ruskin.

The movie is based on the Boston Strangler case, which occurred between 1962 to 1964 when 13 women were killed. The suspected killer was a man named Albert DeSalvo. Even today, there are questions about his guilt or innocence.
As for the podcast, which will be launching through ABC News’s ABC Audio, the three-part series will be narrated by Dick Lehr, a former reporter for the Boston Globe who knew the real life Loretta McLaughlin. The podcast will discuss the victims of the Boston Strangler and the ongoing interest in the case. It’s set to be released ahead of the film’s debut.
The film will also stream on Star+, which is available outside of the US, on March 17 as well.
