Sarah Michelle Gellar had some things to say when it came to the idea of reviving her 90’s hit show Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Having played the titular character from 1997-2003, the series catapulted Gellar into stardom and a recognizable household name. Now with it being years since the show’s first airing and revivals being so popular, would she ever be interested in reviving the series?
In an interview with SFX Magazine, Gellar stated she was not interested in returning for a revival of the show. “I am very proud of the show that we created and it doesn’t need to be done. We wrapped that up.”
However, even though she wouldn’t be in the revival, she wouldn’t say no to seeing a reboot. She also said the story would be worth continuing since the theme of the series was centered around female empowerment. In fact, her choice for the role would be Zendaya.
According to Gellar, she loved the message of the show, which was “Every girl who has the power can have the power.” For her, the role of Buffy should be taken by someone who is younger, saying “I think I look young, but I am not an adolescent.”

In addition to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the series spawned the spinoff Angel, starring David Boreanaz from 1999-2004.
Currently, Gellar is starring in Wolf Pack, which is said to be an indirect-spinoff of the Paramount+ series Teen Wolf: The Movie. Instead of slaying the supernatural, Gellar will be playing an arson investigator who is looking into the source of a wildfire to see how it started.
The series will follow two teenagers whose lives are connected to a creature that became unleashed due to the wildfire Gellar’s character investigates.
Wolf Pack will debut on Paramount+ on Jan. 26, 2023.
