The pilot introduced us to the Head of the Missing Persons Unit (MPU) at the Philadelphia Police Department, Nikki Batista, and her ex-husband Scott Caan who is in private security. Six years ago, their son Keith went missing. Now in the present, Jason receives a seemingly proof-of-life photo of Keith.

In the premiere, the desperate parents are reunited with him. But is that really Keith? The last few moments of the episode have us viewers questioning his identity as “Keith” starts ripping pages from a diary. “Is he their son?” is a question that will be central to the series, showrunner John Eisendrath told Deadline.

Alert: Missing Persons Unit will air tonight, Jan. 9. 2023, at 9 p.m. ET on Fox. This is an hour later than the premiere on Sunday night. That’s because going forward, one new episode will be broadcast on the channel on Monday nights as 9 p.m. ET as this is the show’s regular timeslot. The police procedural can also be streamed on Hulu the next day.

In season 1 episode 2, titled “Hugo,” Jason, Nikki, and the MPU are assigned to a case where a woman ran down a man and held him at gunpoint. Elsewhere, more information about Keith’s kidnapper is discovered, according to the synopsis.

Alert stars Scott Caan as Jason Grant, Dania Ramirez as Nikki Batista, Graham Verchere as Keith, Fivel Stewart as Sydney, Adeola Role as Kemi, and Ryan Broussard as Mike.
