The start of a new year is always very exciting as streamers (and networks) begin to release the first shows and movies out of the gate! And newbie Peacock is keeping up with competitors just fine. The Peacock streaming platform may be on the newer site compared to streaming titans such as Netflix and Hulu, but it is starting off the year strong with its new original feature movie Sick. Want to learn more about the upcoming movie, including when to watch and what it is about? Read on!
From Bel-Air, The Calling, and Meet Cute, Peacock has proven to have some great quality content up its sleeve. And what’s next is Sick, no literally. Well, and figuratively, too.
What is the movie Sick on Peacock about?
Set in the early days of the pandemic (yes, COVID-19, not a zombie apocalypse), Parker and her BFF Miri go to quarantine at Parker’s family lake house. They think they are alone, but far from it. Watching the trailer definitely gives you Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer, and that is because the movie was written by Kevin Williamson, who is also behind these movies. And after screening the movie earlier this week, I can say that the elements from these two horror-slasher classics can be seen in Sick.
At the time of this writing, Sick has a 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes. While it’s not a movie I would go to a movie theater to watch, I did fully enjoy it as a streaming feature. The story has surprises, keeps you guessing, and packs a punch! There are some fantastic action sequences in Sick as you can hear each bone crushing and knife slashing.
Watch Sick when it premieres on Peacock this Friday, Jan. 13. The movie stars Gideon Adlon, Bethlehem Million, and others. Don’t miss it!
