The Golden Globe Awards are a time for movies and shows to receive recognition. And since 1952, at the 8th annual ceremony, the Cecil B. DeMille Award was introduced.

The prestigious award is given to actors, directors, writers, and producers who have made “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment,” according to the Golden Globes website. The very first went to the director and producer the award is named after.

One person has been recognized every year since, except for in 1976 and 2022. Last year, an award was not given because NBC didn’t broadcast the awards show following a boycott toward the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).

In 2023, the Cecil B. DeMille Award went to actor and comedian Eddie Murphy! So who else has been honored over the years? We’ve provided a list of all the recipients below!
