Hulu is starting out the New Year with its first original movie. And what better way to start off a new year than with a comedy film? Get ready fro some laughs! As of Friday, Jan. 13, 2023, The Drop is now streaming on the platform.

The comedy, directed by Sarah Adina Smith, stars Anna Konkle as Lex, Jermaine Fowler as Mani, Jillian Bell, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Elisha Henig, Jennifer Lafleur, Joshua Leonard, Aparna Nancherla, and Robin Thede.

The script was also written by the director and one of the cast members, Leonard. Executive producers on the project include brothers Mark Duplass and Jay Duplass. Smith, Leonard, Jonako Donley, Mel Eslyn, Shuli Harel, Tim Headington and Lia Buman serve as producers.

The Drop centers around Lex (Konkle) and Mani (Fowler), a happily married couple running a bakery in Los Angeles. The couple is ready to start a family and are hoping to have a baby, per the synopsis. When they travel to a tropical island resort for a friend’s wedding at the same time Lex is ovulating, they believe that’s the perfect time to begin trying.

But when Lex accidentally drops her friend’s baby in front of everyone, things become strained between the couple and their friends, throwing the couple’s future “into deep uncertainty,” Hulu shares.
