7 shows to watch (and 3 to skip) in 2023
Shows to watch: Ginny and Georgia
Ginny has been on the run with her mom Georgia for a long time. In the first season of Ginny and Georgia, the two start to put down roots. Of course, there is a threat of them upping and leaving at a moment’s notice, and Ginny is done with all that.
The second season is now available to stream on Netflix, and you’ll want to jump right into it. It picks up off the back of the first season and brings us more humor, beautiful storytelling, and heartwarming moments.
This is a great weekend binge-watch for when you’re feeling down. Give it a chance now.
Shows to watch: So Help Me Todd
Sometimes, we just need something that’s made for pure entertainment. That’s certainly something So Help Me Todd offers. Yes, there are the drama elements, but this is more about the humor.
The series follows attorney Margaret Wright who hires her son Todd to be the in-house private investigator. Todd is the black sheep of the family who fell on hard times and got his private detective license revoked. Is there a chance for him to get it back?
This is one of those shows that reminds us some people just have bad luck. Life choices aren’t always right, but that doesn’t mean someone isn’t worth fighting for.

Shows to watch: Ghosts
How about a comedy? Ghosts is the sophomore series on CBS that you need to check out. It is based on a great British show of the same name, but this American adaptation stands out on its own.
One of the great things about Ghosts is the variety of characters. There is a Native America, a Viking, a Prohibition-era singer, a hippy, and much more. They all have to find a way to live in harmony as they figure out a way to crossover from the afterlife. Maybe the only human who can see them will be able to help them do that.
Ghosts is one of the shows to watch for pure entertainment. Throw on a random episode and just relax.
Shows to skip: Bling Empire: New York
Do we really need another Bling Empire? Netflix has been bringing us a lot of reality shows lately, and this just feels like one that we don’t need.
If you liked the original series, you might want to check out the spin-off. However, don’t we all know spin-offs well enough that they don’t seem to capture the magic of the original series, especially when it comes to okay reality shows?
