The verdict is in! The NBC sitcom Night Court premiered on Jan. 16 as an overwhelming success as the multi-cam series scored the best comedy debut ratings in more than 5 years on NBC. The show is scheduled right before the medical drama, New Amsterdam.
The show debuted with two back-to-back episodes on Tuesday. The show follows Judge Abby Stone, the daughter of the late Harry Stone from the original series, who follows in her father’s footsteps as the night shift judge of a Manhattan arraignment court. While she tries to bring order to her oddball staff, she encounters some eccentric cases that only add fuel to the fire.
The show is considered the revival of the original series which aired form 1984-1992 and had been in industry conversations for months. Fans of the original series will see some easter eggs and similarities from the past but will be happy to see some modern storylines added to the series as the show goes on.
