If you missed the news, The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave is getting an adaptation. Apple TV+ is bringing it to us as a series rather than a movie, and if you’ve read the book, you’ll agree that’s the best idea. This book does have a few twists and turns along the way.

Jennifer Garner and Angourie Rice star in the new series as Hannah and Bailey, who have a mystery to solve. Dave is one of the co-creators along with her husband Josh Singer, and Garner is an executive producer. That’s all great, but what will the series be about?

The Last Thing He Told Me synopsis

The series is based on the same storyline from the book. Hannah comes home to find out that her husband has left. There’s a bag of money, and her husband’s 16-year-old stepdaughter, Bailey, has been left behind. The two have no idea what’s going on, but it looks like someone is after Hannah’s husband.

Hannah and Bailey need to figure out what’s going on. They find out there are a bunch of secrets about Bailey and her father—secrets that Bailey had no idea about. What if you aren’t who you think you are?

There will be seven episodes to The Last Thing He Told Me, with the first two episodes released at once. The rest of the episodes will release weekly on Apple TV+.

If you haven’t read the book yet, it’s certainly worth your time. You won’t see the ending, and I say that as someone who reads a lot of mysteries.

The Last Thing He Told Me premieres on Apple TV+ on Friday, April 14.
