Is everyone else still reeling from The Last of Us premiere? I know I am, holy cow, what an episode. Below, we share the best new weekend movies to watch in theaters and available on streaming services that you won’t want to miss.

From That 90s Show to The Last of Us to The Legend of Vox Machina to How I Met Your Father season two debuting on Tuesday, we have a loaded slate of TV hitting streaming in the last week. Because of all of that, our weekend of films that are releasing isn’t as strong as last week.

Weekend movies to watch (and stream) today

  • Missing, in theaters
  • New Gods: Yang Jian,in theaters
  • Alice, Darling, in theaters
  • Women Talking, in theaters
  • Jung_E, Netflix

You’ve probably seen me talk about Women Talking on Hidden Remote and all over social media. It’s hands down one of the best movies of 2022 and finally hit theaters worldwide this weekend. It is 100% worth checking out in theaters because of the incredible direction from Sarah Polley and the best ensemble cast of last year.

The other big release is Missing, the standalone sequel to the 2018 smash-hit Searching. The film follows June Allen, whose mother goes missing while on vacation in Colombia. As she peels back the layers of finding her mother, she realizes things weren’t exactly as they seemed with her mother or her mother’s boyfriend. I remember seeing the trailer in theaters (I don’t watch them unless I’m in theaters) and being mad because it seemed like they gave away the entire film. I hope that the film can capture the same magic as the first film.

One of the under-the-radar releases this weekend is Alice, Darling. The film follows Alice (Anna Kendrick), who suffers from an abusive boyfriend and heads on vacation with her friends to reevaluate her entire life. I’m a huge fan of Kendrick, so I will be checking this out.

What will you be watching this weekend? Will you enjoy a movie in theaters or streaming?
